It is said that the Egyptians and Arabs developed the distillation system, originating terms such as «Alcohol» and «Alembic». The Arabs spread these techniques in Europe after conquering Spain in 711.
In the 14th century, Arnau de Volanova introduced distillation to Catalonia, Spain, for medical purposes, followed by Ramon Llull. The monks later safeguarded the secrets of distillation, generating varieties of brandy such as Brandy, Cognac, Gin, Rum, Whiskey, Vodka and Tequila.
At the end of the 18th century, distillation evolved thanks to Edouard Adam, who invented a system to rectify alcohols, thus eliminating odors and odors. It was then that the foundations for modern distillation were laid. Greek alchemists created the alembic in the first century AD, composed of three parts: heating the liquid, condensing the vapor and collecting the distillate.
This breakthrough laid the foundation for modern distillation.
